More Than Just a Job

Come work with the country’s premier residential counseling center and boarding school.

Help Us Change Lives.

Heartlight is a residential counseling center for struggling teens where an atmosphere of relationships creates an arena for change. You can have a profound impact on the life of another and take the opportunity to make your mark on the world in a way that is rare for many to have.

We are looking for active and energetic staff that are an example to the kids they live with and a model to other staff.

If you’re engaging, mature, focused, and tough enough to love kids unconditionally who are struggling, hold them accountable when they are wrong, and of course follow the rules of operation that make Heartlight successful, you’re the kind of person we’d love to hear from.

"I prayed to be a part of something greater than myself and God brought me to Heartlight. Throughout my time, I learned to be unafraid of the ‘not so perfect days’ days. Those were the days that brought the change. God used my time at Heartlight to teach me a deeper meaning of grace, mercy, and love.”

    The Job
Staff are expected to supervise the residents, participate in program events, manage the pharmaceutical and medical needs of the residents, be a positive influence on all around, and maintain a clean living environment for other staff and residents in the home. As a residential staff you will also help with program activities, write weekly reports, run errands, and oversee the discipline of the kids in the house. We’ll help you with all of this, and have designated Residential Directors that assist each house to ensure the successful operation of all daily responsibilities.
  • AYIT_Benefits-01
    The Benefits
These are salaried positions with increases every 3 months. Also provided are health and dental insurance, as well as the ability to participate in a 401(K) should you remain employed with Heartlight beyond one year. You will also have the opportunity to raise some of your own support should you desire to add to what Heartlight pays.
  • AYIT_Schedule-01
    The Schedule
The average work week consists of a 5-days-on/2-days-off rotation. Heartlight’s community is a great group of caring people brought together from all walks of life and from all over the country to fulfill a common mission. This results in deep friendships among those who work here and as a result many times the staff use their nights off to get together, take road trips, and spend the night in the homes of other staff who live off-campus.
  • AYIT_Training-01
    The Training
Worried you won’t have answers for every situation? Don’t. We’ll train you in both the basics and the fine points. This means everything from CPR, First Aid, Water Safety Management, and Restraint Management to the specifics of running each house in the ways that are imperative to the success of every resident’s program.
  • AYIT_Setting-01
    The Setting
Heartlight is located on 150 acres in the pristine piney woods of East Texas, just four miles from Longview, TX (a two hour drive east of Dallas). All of our residential homes are log cabin structures where staff live in one room, and kids live in the other rooms. When not served at program events, meals are prepared and served family-style at each of the residential homes.
  • AYIT_TimeOff-01
    Time Off
In addition to your staff benefits you’ll also receive a total of 25 break and vacation days. For your days off, you’ll have a place of your own at our Staff House where you can relax, take a break, and engage with other staff. Often times our staff use their nights off to get together, make road trips, and spend the night in the homes of other staff who live off-campus.
